Will I need Planning Permission?
Most probably. While many of our oak-framed buildings would not ordinarily be subject to planning, they often are because they are being erected in an area of outstanding natural beauty or a conservation area. We can of course take care of any planning applications that may be necessary.

What happens to the appearance of green oak when it dries out?
Over time an oak frame will dry out and weather naturally. During this time the frame will split and crack as the "shakes" open along the grain. This has no detrimental effect on the frame but adds to the character and warmth, an integral part of an oak-framed building.
