Oak Framed Buildings

We are a New Forest based traditional oak-framed building company specialising in the manufacture and construction of handcrafted oak buildings. The company is named after the Knightwood Oak, which at 450 years of age is widely believed to be the oldest oak tree in the New Forest, Hampshire.

Traditional Oak Frames

Born out of a passion for working with wonderful oak, here at Knightwood Oak we maintain the standards of past craftsmen. Our specialist carpenters have extensive experience in working with oak and take great pride in creating these timeless handcrafted oak buildings.

Green Oak

Bespoke oak-framed buildings are full of character and they have a beauty and grace that compliments their strength and durability. They are also environmentally friendly and by marrying traditional and modern materials they can be made extremely energy efficient. Oak becomes harder and stronger with age, ensuring the buildings longevity. Craftsmen have been building with oak for centuries and these handcrafted oak buildings have stood the test of time.

We can supply oak frames in kit form, or if you prefer, we will supply and fit the frame for you.  Frames in kit form can be supplied to anywhere in the country.

Bespoke oak-frame buildings come in a variety of shapes and sizes and can be used for a variety of purposes. These include oak-framed garages, traditional porches, new build oak houses, car ports, out buildings and many other types of construction.

Nearly all of our buildings are built to bespoke designs, to our clients individual needs.

Knightwood Oak have experience of making oak-framed buildings, working in Hampshire, Wiltshire, Dorset, West Sussex, East Sussex, Berkshire, Kent, Surrey, Middlesex, Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Somerset, Devon, Isle of Wight, Gloucestershire.

Oak and the Environment

Building, using green oak, requires less energy than other forms of general construction and unlike other timber, green oak does not need to be treated extensively with preservatives.

An oak frame is also environmentally friendly (a stand of growing oaks produces large amounts of oxygen) and when used to build an oak frame the carbon dioxide remains locked in, thus reducing the amount of carbon released into the atmosphere. When mature trees are felled, young trees are planted to replace them and the cycle starts again.
